How to run behavioral simulations with Graita

Practical guides for research, marketing, product, and strategy teams — from building your first audience cohort to running virtual focus groups and interpreting TVD confidence scores. Looking for programmatic integration? See the API & Methodology Docs.

Getting Started

Sign up, workspace setup, and free credits

How to create your workspace, what the 2,500 trial credits cover, and how to invite your team.

When you create a workspace on Graita, it comes pre-loaded with 2,500 simulation credits and immediate access to Pre-Built Verified Panels (such as Indonesia Urban Consumers and SEA B2B Decision Makers).

1 credit equals 1 Digital Twin evaluation in a single wave. For example, running a simulation on an 8-person cohort with 1 round of Word-of-Mouth Social Diffusion (2 evaluation waves total) uses 16 credits — meaning your initial 2,500 credits let you run over 150 full studies before upgrading.

Everything in Graita is designed to be used directly from the web dashboard without writing a single line of code.

Running your first simulation in 3 minutes

Pick an audience, choose an industry template, and get a decision-ready report.

1. Open your dashboard and click New Simulation.

2. At the top of the page, click one of the 10 Industry Templates (Consumer & Retail, Financial Services, Travel & Hospitality, Media & Entertainment, Automotive, Healthcare, Telecom, B2B SaaS, Policy, or Executive Rehearsal) — or select a Stimulus Category from the dropdown.

3. Choose your target Population Cohort, customize the options you want to compare (such as 3 pricing tiers, 3 ad headlines, or 3 credit card reward structures), and click Launch Simulation.

4. Watch responses stream in live. Within seconds, you will see which option won, why respondents chose it, and how opinions shifted after word-of-mouth discussion.

Audiences & Population Cohorts

Pre-Built Panels vs. Custom Synthesized Cohorts

When to use our ready-made panels and how to generate a custom audience in plain language.

Pre-Built Panels are ready out of the box for broad consumer or B2B studies. Each Digital Twin already has a realistic household income, remaining monthly discretionary budget, Big Five personality profile, and 4 specialist reflections (Psychologist, Behavioral Economist, Sociologist, Demographer).

If you need a niche audience — for example, 'Pemilik kedai kopi & katering di Surabaya dengan omzet Rp 30–100 juta/bulan' or 'Suburban parents considering their first electric SUV' — open Population Cohorts, click Synthesize Custom Cohort, and describe your target audience in plain Indonesian or English.

Import your own customer list from CSV or Excel

Turn your CRM export, loyalty data, or survey spreadsheet into a private cohort of Digital Twins.

Go to Population Cohorts and click Import CSV. You can upload a .csv file exported from Excel, Google Sheets, or your CRM, or click Load Sample CSV Template to see the exact format.

Supported columns include full_name, age, gender, location, occupation, monthly_income_idr, discretionary_budget_idr, and backstory (where you can paste past purchases, NPS feedback, or customer notes).

Graita automatically enriches every imported row with 4-domain Expert Reflections, episodic memory nodes, and a social graph so you can run simulations on your own customer base immediately.

Designing Scenarios & Stimuli

Choosing the right Stimulus Category

How the form adapts its input fields automatically depending on whether you are testing price, creative copy, rewards, retention, or policy.

Different business decisions require different inputs — testing a movie trailer or a patient reminder does not need a price field. When you change the Stimulus Category in Step 1, Step 2 adapts its fields automatically:

  • •Product Concept & Conjoint Trade-off: Test combinations of product specs (flavor, packaging, EV range, hotel amenity), channel, and optional price.
  • •Pricing, Packaging & Subscription Tiers: Test monthly/annual prices in IDR against each respondent's remaining discretionary wallet.
  • •Financial Services, Rewards & Offer Design: Compare credit card perks, cashback rules, or payment flows by reward structure and switching friction.
  • •Creative, Story Positioning & Campaign Testing: Test ad headlines, story angles (standalone vs. sequel vs. reboot), and media channels without any price fields.
  • •Healthcare Adherence, Guest Experience & Retention: Compare outreach touchpoints (pharmacist call vs. WhatsApp reminder) or anti-churn loyalty perks.
  • •Public Policy, Org Culture & Regulatory Change: Rehearse hybrid/remote work rules, public regulations, or organizational changes.
  • •Executive Rehearsal (Earnings Call, Crisis & Litigation): Stress-test executive statements and customer restitution strategies before going public.

Adding custom survey questions

Combine multiple-choice distributions, 1–10 numeric ratings, and open-ended qualitative questions.

In Step 3 (Custom Research Questions & Action Space), you can add as many custom questions as your study requires:

• Multiple Choice (Distribution %): Define comma-separated answer options to get an exact percentage bar breakdown across the population.

• Numeric Scale (1–10 Score): Measure trust, excitement, NPS, or likelihood to recommend on a 1–10 scale.

• Open-Ended Qualitative: Collect candid first-person explanations in each respondent's own words.

How Word-of-Mouth Social Diffusion works

See how initial reactions change after customers talk to their coworkers, friends, and family.

In the real world, people rarely make decisions in isolation — a skeptical coworker or an enthusiastic friend often changes their mind.

When you enable Step 4 (Small-World Social Graph Word-of-Mouth Diffusion), Round 0 measures every person's independent first reaction. In Round 1 and Round 2, each Digital Twin sees the choices and objections of their connected peers in the cohort's social network and decides whether to hold firm or switch.

Reading Results & Virtual Focus Groups

Stated Preference vs. Real-World Action (The Say-Do Gap)

Why people say 'yes' in traditional surveys but fail to act at checkout — and how Graita corrects for it.

In traditional market research, respondents often give polite or aspirational answers ('Yes, I would buy that'). In reality, habit inertia and switching effort cause a predictable drop-off known as the Say-Do Gap.

Graita reports both Stated Preference / Intent (%) and Real-World Action (Post Say-Do %), discounting stated interest by each respondent's price sensitivity, brand skepticism, and the friction level of your offer.

Understanding the Confidence Badge and TVD (< 0.16)

How to know when a simulation result is decision-grade and when to run follow-up human fieldwork.

Every simulation summary and custom research question is tagged with a Confidence Badge (High confidence, Moderately high confidence, Medium confidence, or Low confidence) and a predicted Total Variation Distance (TVD).

TVD measures how closely the simulated distribution is expected to match real-world human proportions on a scale from 0.00 (identical) to 1.00. A predicted TVD below 0.16 meets the Decision-Grade threshold — meaning the rank order and winning option are highly reliable for executive decisions.

Convening a live Virtual Focus Group or 1-on-1 Interview

Click any skeptic or champion in your simulation results to ask follow-up questions in real time.

Scroll down to Individual Digital Twin Verbatim Monologues on any completed simulation.

To interview one person in depth, click 'Ask follow-up 1-on-1 →' on their card. To bring several respondents into a room together, tick the checkboxes on up to 6 Digital Twins (for example, 3 skeptics who rejected your price and 3 champions who loved it) and click Convene Focus Group.

In the Focus Group room, type any follow-up question or counter-offer — such as 'If we included a 30-day free trial and WhatsApp onboarding, would you reconsider?' — and watch each participant respond in character.

Team, Security & Plans

Inviting colleagues from Research, Marketing, and Product

Share cohorts, simulations, and focus group transcripts across your organization.

Open Settings → Team in your dashboard and click Invite Member. You can assign roles (Admin or Member) so product managers, brand strategists, and UX researchers can collaborate in the same workspace.

Keeping your workspace secure (Passkeys & 2FA)

Protect proprietary product concepts and customer cohorts with WebAuthn Passkeys and authenticator apps.

Because simulations often contain unreleased product concepts, pricing strategies, or sensitive policy drafts, Graita supports Touch ID / Face ID Passkeys (WebAuthn) and TOTP Authenticator apps under Settings → Security.
